Hi, I'm just wondering what is the treasure? I'm hot on the trail of a couple verses/pics, but don't even know what [value] I'd be searching for. Does anyone know, if found, what the treasure is? What was the treasure in the other 2 that have been found? Anyone?

There's lots to read but start here:

Hi Mark Parry, thank you for the post to my message "What is the Treasure?". Your link brought me to a place where the Cleveland pictures were posted, no reading.
I am very close to checking a treasure, but it does involve some travel, so before I go, I just wanted to know what kind of treasures The Secret offers. And I read the main person had died in a tragic car accident, so is the hunt even still on?
You can reply to my home email address:

if you want. I was just hoping for some information on what the treasure was. The pics from Cleveland were nice, but didn't really asnwer my question. Is the treasure the casque and the key? Nothing more?
forest_blight
Until Byron Preiss's automobile accident, the idea was to locate and acquire one of 12 concrete casques, each containing a key. The key could be redeemed to Preiss for one of 12 jewels, together totaling somewhere around $18,000 in 1982. We are pretty much in the dark about the current status of the hunt, but just as enthusiastic as ever about finding the casques.

Hi and thanks to all who have responded. Even though I'm new to this, I've read much, much about it here and at 12.org.
I absolutely know where/what verse 8 treasure is. I haven't been able to match it up with an image yet. I also have a good idea about Verse 1 but have to do more research before I can be certain (as I am for verse 8.)
I can't really travel right now, but I read in the book that you can send in a form with the name of the place where you think the caskue is and if it's correct, they'll (who are they?) send you the jewel but not the casque nor key.
I see a current member, Egbert, has recently found a casque and wondered if he would mind giving us a play by play (sorry) of what the process was, after he found the casque. THanks,
Jenna
wilhouse
Jean, I know you're new here, but on this board, we don't "I know where it is" each other.
Read the existing threads for verse 1. You can probably stop looking for that one.
wilhouse
forest_blight
Jenna - very good theories exist that link Verse 8 to a park in Milwaukee. Have you thoroughly read those topics, and are you still sure your idea is right?
Regardless, I would urge you to share your ideas. If you're wrong, we'll point out why we think so, and you will save the money and time it would take to chase wild geese. If you're right... then see if there is anyone on the forum who lives near the location - they would be glad to do some recon for you and accompany you on the actual dig. At the very least, you'll need someone to take pictures while you dig it up!

Yes, that's it.
Jeanineruby, you will see that this hunt is not like the "Treasure's Trove" hunt. It is not filled with easy puzzles, and it is not a race to see who gets to the money first. I would say nearly everyone involved in this hunt is in it for the thrill and mental exercise of just figuring it out. I would say pretty confidently that if you put out a solution on these boards, and we thought it was correct, not a single person would "race" you to the site first. Rather, we would wish you luck, and ask you to tell us all about it, even if you didn't find the casque.
As for what happened after my buddy Siskel and I found the treasure, I believe I posted that in the "Cleveland" thread. Good luck!

1st off, welcome to the hunt.
2ndly, I must agree with the masses about trying to stay away from "I think I know where one is if you want to pm me". The treasure itself cant hold a candle to those offered in ATT...the treasure is indeed solving this hunt.
I think I can speak for the others with what I say next. If you were to find out that your location idea is close to me...I would gladly either:
-supply the manpower (all on videotape for everyone here)...feel the thrill of digging up one of The Secret's casques, take plenty of pictures & happily send you your prize.
-meet you there and help you uncover the prize with any help needed.
This group of hunters is sooooooo unlike the ATT clan. The thrill of working with these people is that everyone is open with their ideas (both good and bad) and are enthusiastic to solve this old hunt.
Welcome....
fox
Egbert found the casque BECAUSE OF the members of this board and we all rejoiced in the find with him. Not once did any of those working on the hunt ask for anything from Sir Egg. Johann, who linked the upside tower in P4 to Cleveland as well as linking P4 to V4 on March 29, 2004 asked for nothing. Even I, who initiated interest in this long lost hunt back in August of 2001 requested nothing.
The thrill of the find is what drives us......and we wont stop until the last casque is unearthed.
forest_blight
I couldn't agree more, fox.

Very Good Then!! Calling for any recon volunteers!!!
I also find the ATT site very rude and backstabbing. And, I'm glad to hear this forum isn't that way, because I want to communicate with people I can trust and trust me.
I have indeed read the complete thread for Verse 8 and I disagree with the Milwaukee location.
Has anyone been able to match up verse 8 with an image?
The location I believe for Verse 8 is in Texas. I'm in Oregon - so traveling is difficult.
Here's what I found so far:
View the three stories of Mitchell (Mitchell Building - in Dallas TX has 3 stories)
As you walk the beating of the world (Mitchell Bldg is on Commerce St in Dallas)
From a distance in time from 3 who lived there (RB Collum, Nimitz & Fitzhugh are 3 famous Texans who have streets named after them in Fair Park in Dallas which is at the end of Commerce Street)
At a distance in space from woman, with harpsichord silently playing - (a statue or the Women's Museum)
Step on nature - walk on grass
Cast in copper - statues in copper
Ascend the 92 steps (of the lagoon)
after climbing the grand 200 (Grand Place on Grand Street is right there)
Pass the compass and reach the foot of the culvert below the bridge (there's a bridge by the lagoon)
Walk 100 paces, SE over rock and soil to the 1st young birch (this is all specific directions)
You'll see a letter from the country of wonderstone's hearth (African-American Museum is right there)
On a proud, tall fifth at it's southern foot, the treasure waits. (again more specific directions)
So, if anybody lives in or by Dallas and wants to go looking keep in touch!
Also, any critique would be great! Let's discuss this. Maybe I'm all wet.
Jenna
wilhouse
well, I can't critique your thoughts specifically, but I will say that since the verse 1 image 8 casque is in Houston, I don't think that Preiss would lay another one so close.
But hey, I could be wrong.

Jenna - these are very good ideas; you are certainly thinking like a treasure-hunter!
I will play devil's advocate here not because I don't like your ideas, but because if your theory can withstand assault... perhaps it is correct!
1. As wilhouse says, Dallas is awfully close to Houston, and we are virtually certain there is a casque buried in Houston. So its mere proximity to Houston argues against their being a casque there.
2. You associate 92 steps with the lagoon, but I can see no significant stairs or steps near the lagoon in Fair Park in Google's satellite photos.
3. Grand 200 - what does the 200 refer to?
4. Where is the bridge near the lagoon? I couldn't spot it either.
5. Your theory starts out great, with the Mitchell Building, Commerce St. (money sure makes the world go 'round), and the three Texans, but after that it gets sorta vague. Can you be more specific about the walking on grass, copper statues, etc.?
fox
Jenna, you are indeed thinking like a treasure hunter....and thanks for sharing your theories.
The only thing that worries me also is the close proximity to Houston. Other than that, I'm with you %100. Those are all very good ideas & I think, regardless of the nearness to Houston, they should be researched further.
Keep the juices flowing young lady....welcome to the hunt....and be prepared to celebrate with the rest of us when casque 3 is knocked off or our list.

ok, I'll address these issues, but first my disclaimer: I've never been to Fair Park in Dallas and I have no first hand knowledge about it's layout so it is hard to be 'more specific' but being the Treasure Hunter I am, my theory is that once I saw the park, I'd realize what the clues meant.
1 - I've read the thread about the Houston casque and it definitely could be correct too, but I wonder why someone hasn't tried to find it? And, there very well could be 2 buried in Texas - who knows unless one goes and tried to find it.
2 & 4 - The lagoon is shown in a map to the park. I also viewed this park using GoogleEarth and could see there were steps, but of course couldn't count how many. I also saw there was a bridge, or what looked like a bridge - it's something crossing the water.
3. I have no idea what "After climbing the grand 200" means, only that Grand Place and Grand Street are right there, so it stands to reason and fits the verse.
Like I said, it's hard to be 'more specific' without really seeing the park with my own eyes.
Here's a link that might help.
hxxp://www.fairpark.org/index.cfm?FuseA ... ID=1000000
click on the map on the right side.
So, I was hoping someone in Dallas or close by could go search out the park and at least prove or disprove any of the clue theories....
Any takers?
forest_blight
On second thought, Dallas' proximity to Houston may not be a problem. Dallas is about as far from Houston as Roanoke is from Charleston, or Charleston is from St. Augustine. Or, for that matter, as Cleveland is from Chicago.

Hi, I'm in the Dallas / Fort Worth area and would be happy to check it out. And, I don't want any credit or anything, just happy to help. I had hoped that there might be one here, but pretty much dismissed that thought after hearing confirmation that one is in Houston. Now, Fair Park is a big place - the Cotton Bowl and an amphitheater or two are on site (though I think the big amphitheater came after 1982), and it's where they hold the Texas State Fair, so we'll need those specifics to narrow things down. I'll try to go out there this weekend and take some pictures. I'll start with looking for a compass rose, a culvert, a bridge, and a birch tree all in the same vicinity.
jeanineruby
Hi! That would be great Jambone, if you can go take pictures at Fair Park this weekend. I just wish I could go with you!!!
Did you get the map link I posted? If you follow my clues in my post outlining all my theories to the clues in verse 8, I'm sure you'll be on the right track. I'm very curious about this!!!
Thanks again and I can't wait to see some pictures of the place.
Be sure to get a picture of Grand Place, the Lagoon, the Bridge, any statue or artwork depicting a woman playing the harpsichord, or similar. Any bronze statutes near the lagoon, any compass in the area, etc. (sorry if I sound pushy - I'm just excited.) I'm sure you know more about it than I!
Good luck - maybe you'll find the casque!!!
fox
Get us another one Jambone!
The thing that would seal the deal for me (even if you dont find the casque) is the darn woman playing harpsichord. If she can be found, we know we have the right place.

Look for my post in the Verse 8 thread.

and yet nothing has been found in Houston. I also disagree with the Charleston SC theory for Image 2 - Verse 1. I believe that may be in Seattle, WA. Many are just looking to the Eastern part of the country and ignoring the western part. As for the five-sided shape in Image 2- I take it to be Home Plate (the Seattle Mariners baseball team) Plus the Pear (WA was (and may still be) the Pear Captiol in 1980's). And "Through the Wood no Lion Fears" - The KingDome was made of wood (and that's why it eventually was replaced with Century Link field as boards started coming down) and although it no longer exists (today) it certainly did in the 1980's. "Looking back from Treasure ground, There's the Spout! A Whistle sounds" - Spout could be coffee - Starbucks and Seattle's Best Coffee came from Seattle. Whistle Sounds: the Amtrax Train Station is very near where the Kingdom used to be. "Fortress North Cold as Glass" - of course Canada is north of Washington State. Oregon and California are South. Lake Shasta (shasta Daisy in the image) is in Northern California. "Take your task to 982" which is the first 3 numbers of some of Washgton's zip code. "In the sky the water veers" yes it rains a lot in Seattle/Washington State. "Our strongest tower of delight" Space Needle.
The "Small of scale, step across...." are specific instructions and as I don't live in Seattle, I don't know what that is referring to other than specific instructions.
So anyway, before I ever read anything about Image 2 (years ago) I thought this could be Seattle and matched it up with Verse 1. From what I can tell, the one thing leading people to SC is the Pentagon shape of Fort Sumter. But I always thought it looked like Home Plate from a baseball diamond. Of course Fort Sumter could as well be correct (yet no one has found anything) - the 3 stripes could be Boeing's logo (in Washington - in the 1980's their colors were Red, White and Blue), the star could be The Mariners (they use a star in their logo). The pine needles also point to the Pacific NW. I have no idea about the winged scantily-dressed woman or the other thing - wood mask, snow shoe? However, the shape on top does look quite a bit like Vancouver Island, which is north of Washington State.
Anyway it's just fruit for thought. Let me know what you think!
WhiteRabbit
What do we think?
Utter b******s.
forest_blight
To rephrase WhiteRabbit's comment, I think it's the unmistakable map of Charleston on the mask's forehead that makes this a slam-dunk for most of us.

well I do agree the map looks very much like Charleston, SC especially with Drum Island. Perhaps my Seattle theory is too obvious. King, Pear and all that.
I hope it is found soon so we can know for sure!

Ok..thats a huge and very prominent geographic feature. First Ive heard of it. All this time Ive been talking about "romance retold" and their "drumming" as the jargon for a type of mating call for many types of birds and nobody mentioned that island.

Seriously, I hope you know that graphic was a joke. but your comment did make me chuckle. It exemplifies not being able to see the forest for the trees. I hope you have the chance to pass the pic on at an appropriate moment in the future. Perhaps even to me.
